MEET NEDA

By Chase W.

Neda is the school’s new guidance counselor. Neda likes how the Roeper community is so warm and inviting. And she loves how the staff are so authentic and supportive. She also likes how the students are kind and brilliant. This how she likes Roeper so far: “I love it and I feel like I am home.” She also used to work as the Cranbrook Upper School counselor. And her favorite colors are blue and green. Also she loves Target. And that is Neda our new counselor! I hope you can get to know her!

Curry Injury Update

By Jaxson H.

Stephen Curry plays guard for the Golden Gate Warriors injured his right knee on Sunday Nov. 12th playing against the Timberwolves. He missed the second game against them, which they lost 128-109. He got an MRI that showed it wasn’t broken, but it’s still sore.

The reason his team is so dependent on him, is because his 3-point shots can change the game. He scores an average of 30.7 points per game. Fun fact: he was born on Pi Day!

Marvins Marvelous Mechanical Museum is shutting down!

Marvins is a very fun arcade, there is games and has a lot of antiques and very cool and I’ve had many cool and fun memories there. Too be honest, I can’t believe it’s shutting down, and a strip mall wants to put a Mejers there I don’t agree with that, so this is a link so you can stop it from getting demolished.

Marvin Yagoda invented this arcade and he died 2017 and now it’s run by his son Jeremy.

Stage IV Basketball

By Ava K.

The Stage IV basketball team, coached by Laura, has played 4 games so far against Parkway Christian, Intercity Baptist, and Southfield Christian. Upcoming games are on 12/1 against Oakland Christian, 12/7 against Merritt Academy, and 12/11 against Oakland Christian. When asked “how do you think basketball is going?” Stage IV basketball student Ellison replied: ” Laura barely gives us water breaks and you can get hit in the face by a basketball.” When asked if she thinks we’re going to win? Ellie replied “YES!” Laura said “I’m excited! The team is very hard working except for one student named Trouble.” She thinks the team could win “as long as they continue to be focused and love the game!” So if you’re a first year in Stage IV and thinking about joining basketball, you should definitely sign up next year! If you’re a second year and love basketball, you can also join the middle school team!

2 Stage Games in a row + Parent lunch participation + DSO.

By Orrin L.

Lately Roeper has been really active with surprises such as: The DSO + Parent Lunch Participation + 2 Stage Games in a row for stage 4! I personally think that the days that they let stage 4 go to the DSO and the days where parents came to lunch were one of my favorite days of the whole school year so far. They gave us a trip to an amazing place to hear amazing music which was the Detroit Orchestra where they played music based around planets such as: Jupiter, Mercury, Earth and Saturn. They also during core 3 and homeroom let us play Backboard Dodge and 4 corner Pin dodge in a row! Finally, during lunch and recess parents such as: Karen Ballentine, Stacy Frase, June Cohen, Marinelli Brown and Emily Wheeler.

Roeper Reptars

By Ellison W.

This article is about Roeper Reptars, our school’s soccer team. Soccer is a very popular sport especially in America. This sign-up ends in the beginning of March, so if you want to join, join now. It’s open for stage three and four. There are a lot of kids in soccer and I don’t know everyone but there’s a lot. The games are at Total soccer in Royal oak, which is a place where we play soccer. Total soccer is like a big dome like shape. during practice we do dribbling, shooting in the net, and learning how to play. Paula and Deb started soccer because they wanted to have friends to play together and to have fun.

animal hybrids

By Jackson Z.

this is the fox dog it’s a newly discovered hybrid. It was found in Brazil after a car accident, then taken to a hospital. It seems endangered to most people that have seen this elusive creature. It was found in 2023. It has the father of a dog, but the mother of a fox. It was named the “fox dog” by the researchers who found it because they didn’t know if it was a new species or just another hybrid that this world has hidden. The fox that is known to be its mother is a silver fox. Its dad is partial Maltese.
