MEET NEDA

By Chase W.

Neda is the school’s new guidance counselor. Neda likes how the Roeper community is so warm and inviting. And she loves how the staff are so authentic and supportive. She also likes how the students are kind and brilliant. This how she likes Roeper so far: “I love it and I feel like I am home.” She also used to work as the Cranbrook Upper School counselor. And her favorite colors are blue and green. Also she loves Target. And that is Neda our new counselor! I hope you can get to know her!

THE BOOK FAIR IS BACK!

Roeper is having a book fair from December 5th to December 9. The book fair will be with the online book selling company Literati. It is a place we have never used before. Carmen will not be able to choose the books for the book fair, but the books are selected by experts. The fair will be during and after school and there will be an online one starting on November 7th. Parent volunteers will be needed, so if you are interested in volunteering, contact Carmen at carmen . flora @ roeper . org. Teachers will have online wish lists so people can order books for their classroom. The teacher wish lists will be through the Michigan bookstore McLean & Eakin. ‘The book fair will be held in the Steward Building. The books will cost about $2 to $20, the average cost will be $8. Every classroom will have a scheduled time when they get to go to the book fair.

the painting…

By Chase W.

Two teens, Phoebe Plummer and Anna Holland, threw Heinz tomato soup on Van Gogh’s sunflower painting and then glued themselves to the wall. “We’re not answering the question of if everyone should be throwing soup on paintings,” Phoebe said. The topic she wanted to draw attention to was oil and fossil fuel licenses. They were using these actions to get media attention to “get people talking about this now. We know how civil resistance works. History has shown us how this works. I’m standing here as a queer woman and the reason that I’m able to vote, go to university, and hopefully marry the woman I love is because of people who have taken civil resistance before me.”

MONSTER HIGH MOVIE REVIEW

By Chase W.

Monster High the Movie is a New Nickelodeon film for the third generation of Monster High. The movie is about a human and monster girl named Clawdeen and she finally finds her place at the school. At school she finds her new roommates, Frankie and Draculara. Clawdeen and Draculara don’t click together that quickly, but then they do click. The school is really serious about keeping humans out…

For comedy, I will give it 5 out of 10. For music sequences, I give it 10 out of 10. For story I give it 8 out of 10.

SCRUNCHIES: THE 80’s SENSATION

By Chase W.

Scrunchies: the 80’s sensation! People would wear them all around and you can do that, too, because Thursday the 23 is Roeper Scrunchie Day! Ask your parents for some or if you have them, wear them! Remember, you can choose to do this! A scrunchie is a hairband and a bracelet. It is also good for your hair because it’s gentler than other hair ties. Even Madonna wore them! (Your parents will know that.) You are gonna be like Destiny’s Child! (Again your parents will know that one!)

BY CHASE WORTHEM

Spring fashion colors are soft lilac, hot pink, canary yellow, salted caramel, scarlet, and sky blue. Fashion color focus hot pink: ok, here is a suggestion: white collared shirt with jeans and pink furry coat. It sounds good! Tell this to your parents or friends: do not use cheetahs as fashion! Do not buy or wear fur! #supportthecheetahs Spring 2022 fashion design Chase Worthem
